A couple of weeks ago it was Spirit Week here at BYU-Idaho. Part of the festivities was the annual "Pond Skimming" event. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, it is a crazy activity where a giant pond full of freezing cold water is built at the end of a huge hill. College kids dress up in ridiculous costumes and go down the hill on things like sleds, skis, snowboards, or other weird objects. This year a guy went down in a recliner chair. Nuts! The goal is to see if you can make it across the pond without falling in. I think it is absolutely insane, but it's tradition! haha. It was sad though--a guy went down on a little bike and fell in the middle of the hill. (First of all, it was a stupid move on his part!) He smacked his face and tumbled down the hill. When he stopped at the bottom, we knew it was bad news. He ended up breaking his arm and splitting his eyelid. It was awful. It's not fun when people do dumb things and get hurt! But my roommates and I had a blast watching all of the creative costumes and crazy students go down the hill.

The whole crewMy roommate Arthella, our friend Jules, and I went to Nashville Nights last week. It is a night where college kids try out and the 8 or so best groups get to sing at Nashville Nights. I love country music, so I really enjoyed it. The three of us dressed up like cowboys for the event! Yee-haw!

Saddle up the horse, partna'!Lastly, today is Valentine's Day and I love it! My mom always taught me that Valentine's Day isn't just for loving a boyfriend/girlfriend, but it is a day to show everyone how much you love them! Whether that's really true or she just told us that because we're all single I don't know, but hey, I'll take it! I have had a blast this year. My R.S. Counselors and I "heart attacked" each of our sisters apartment doors, and my roommates and I have had fun doing little things for each other throughout the past week. This morning, my mom invited us kids over for a big breakfast! It was some good eatin' and she had the place all decorated in red hearts. What a doll! She is always making life enjoyable for her family. We love her!
We have the best FHE brothers this semester! We spend a lot of time doing things with them, and they are always doing little sweet things for us girls. This morning we opened the door to exit our apartment and found this. They had hung 6 boxes of candy, one for each of us with our names on them, and wrote little Valentine quotes to match the candy inside. Darling! We love them!
My sisters are so sweet as well and each made me a special Valentine. I have no idea what I did to get so lucky but I am grateful! I have the best family in the world. Mel made me some sugar cookies and an awesome card, and Jamie decorated this cookie for me at school and brought it to my apartment! (Can you tell that I like cookies Ü) What a wonderful day!!!
